Yale Model United Nations

Brasília

August 14-16, 2026

Dear Delegates,

ADVISORS, AND PARENTS

Welcome to the first iteration of Yale Model United Nations Brasil 2026!

My name is Matheus Mascarenhas, born and raised in Campinas, São Paulo, and now a sophomore at Yale University, double majoring in Global Affairs and Economics. I have been entrusted with one of the most exciting challenges of my life: bringing to life the largest and most vibrant Yale international conference: YMUN Brasil.

The creation of YMUNB was no coincidence, for it was born out of a singular vision that Brasil is the powerhouse of diplomacy. The first nation to speak at every UN General Assembly, the founding member of the League of the Nations, UN, BRICS, OAS, and Mercosur. The homeland of José Bonifácio de Andrada e Silva, Ruy Barbosa, Osvaldo Aranha, Sérgio Vieira de Mello, Maria Luiza Ribeiro Viotti, and Celso Amorim. Brasil exports peacemakers and global deal-brokers. The long-sufferers, but creatives. The kindhearted, but savvy. It was, therefore, unthinkable for one of the world’s most renowned academic institutions not to establish a YMUN Brasil.

Our mission rests on three pillars: accessibility, quality, and experience. Our commitment to accessibility is reflected in our flagship financial aid program. Our quality is translated by decades of MUN experience from the Yale International Relations Association. And the global learning experience is unmatched, with not only high-level committee sessions but exciting events throughout the conference.

Gathering students from across Brasil and Latin America, YMUNB will offer not only an immersive and innovative educational experience, but also the opportunity for long-lasting bonds and rivers of conversation that will flood the minds of young leaders with renewed ideas. Hosted at the Royal Tulip Brasília Alvorada, a world-renowned five-star hotel chosen to accommodate our delegates, YMUNB begins its legacy in the heart of Brazilian politics and diplomacy: Brasília. The white harpy of the central plateau, whose stateliness holds space for all people’s voices.

DELEGATES, in YMUNB, you will have the opportunity to speak and to learn. It will be your time to be bold, studious, diplomatic, and understanding. You will be together with students from all backgrounds to engage in negotiations, consensus-building, and working papers to find solutions for the most complex issues of our time.

TO TEACHERS, EDUCATORS, AND PARENTS: during August 14–16, 2026, trust in the work of highly dedicated and sophisticated Yale students who are carrying out one of the most meaningful educational experiences your students will ever have. Our work ethic is unparalleled, and our passion for this project is genuine.

We will remain open and communicative throughout. Please feel free to contact us, preferably by email, but also through Instagram. Stay connected with our posts, reels, stories, lives, and videos as YMUNB takes shape.

Are you ready for YMUN Brasil?

I cannot wait.

Warm Regards,

Matheus Nucci Mascarenhas | Secretary-General
