Committee Awards
Eligibility: Only those who submit position papers meeting the requirements by the beginning of the first committee session at 1:30 PM BRT on August 14, 2026, will be eligible for awards.
The YMUN Brasil Secretariat is committed to celebrating delegates who demonstrate formidable diplomatic skills, critical thinking, and a strong commitment to consensus-building through collaboration. With that in mind, we will distribute awards to delegates who have excelled in their performance within their respective committees.
In such a rich debate environment as YMUN Brasil's committees, which will address major complex global issues, awards will be given out to the most outstanding performers. Such delegates exemplify numerous qualities of a successful diplomat, such as clear and persuasive speech, leadership, cooperation, and formality. Delegates that may receive awards should be the ones who took a leadership role in shaping the committee decisions and resolutions, introduced solution ideas to contentions, and even challenged other delegates through skillfully asked inquiries. Simply put, they must have substantially moved the committee forward at all stages through their contributions.
The distribution of awards for each committee is as follows:
UN Committees (GAs/ECOSOCs): 1 best, 2 outstanding, 2 honorable
Specialized/Crisis Committees: 1 best, 1 outstanding, 2 honorable
Best Position Paper: 1 award per committee
The objective criteria that YMUN Brasil will take into account towards award evaluation for best, outstanding, and honorable awards is the following:
Participation: This will be evaluated through speeches, sponsorships, signatures, and the presentation of working papers and draft resolutions (or directives in crisis/specialized committees). Participation also includes authenticity, respect, and collaboration with fellow delegates.
Skill: This includes the delegate’s ability in impromptu speaking, encompassing eloquence and conviction, as well as soft skills such as teamwork, persuasion, and conciliation of interests. Additionally, the quality and relevance of written work, including speeches, draft resolutions, working papers, or directives, will be taken into account.
Sportsmanship: This criterion seeks to reward delegates who serve as leaders within their committees, uplift other voices, and collaborate effectively with their peers. Leadership does not mean doing all the work alone; rather, it means inspiring others with ideas to bridge differences and help the committee find practical solutions.
The position paper award will be given solely based on the position paper’s content. A delegate’s performance in committee will not factor into the position paper award. To learn about what constitutes a good position paper, please visit https://www.ymunb.org/position-papers.
If delegates choose to submit their position paper for feedback, they are not required nor encouraged to resubmit so that they can focus on preparing for other aspects of the committee. If they do choose to resubmit, the latest version of their position paper submitted before the deadline will be used for determining the award.
Conference Awards
There will be six conference-level awards. For clarity, we specify “schools” as delegations formally associated with and composed of students solely from a secondary educational institution. Independent delegations are defined as those not formally associated with a school as previously defined. In case of confusion, you may contact the YMUNB Secretariat to inquire about your delegation’s classification. Large delegations are defined as those with more than 20 delegates. Medium-sized delegations are those with between seven and 20 delegates. Small delegations are those with fewer than seven delegates.
To be eligible for these awards, at least 90% of delegates must have submitted a position paper.

To determine these awards, the YMUNB Secretariat will evaluate delegate performance across all committees and position papers, taking into account Director feedback and the number of delegates in a delegation. Using this knowledge, we will present these six awards at the closing ceremony
