YMUN Brasil is thrilled to offer delegates the opportunity to learn about a wide range of topics through interactive workshops led by our very own Yale Secretariat.
Workshop 1: Spanish Through Portuguese
Directors: José María Salvador and Lukas Koutsoukos
Ready to discover how your Portuguese skills can unlock a new language? In this seminar, José and Lukas will dissect the Spanish language and culture through a Brasilian lens! Use your knowledge of Portuguese to help you expand your Spanish vocabulary and discover the linguistic connections between these languages. Throughout this seminar, you will have an opportunity to learn about the rich cultural similarities between the Hispanophone and Lusophone worlds.
Workshop 2: Trivia Around the World!
Directors: Aaron Ma and Larissa Garcez
Think you know the world? Put your global knowledge to the test in this fast-paced trivia game hosted by Larissa and Aaron! Compete against fellow delegates as you identify countries, capitals, landmarks, flags, and cultural customs from around the globe, all while learning more about the diverse places and people represented at the United Nations.
Workshop 3: Inside Yale’s Residential College System
Directors: Leonardo Ladeira and Isa Nascimento
Curious about the residential college (resco) system at Yale? Want to learn about Yale's best resco? Come hear about Trumbull College and life at Yale with Isa and Leo. From Jonathan Trumbull to Yale traditions and fun facts, we'll walk you through it all – with a presentation and plenty of time for questions. See you there... MOORAH!!
Workshop 4: The Floor is Yours: Learning to Think Fast and Develop Your Speaking Through Theater
Directors: Sofia Costa Franco, Talia Philip, and Hannah Engel
Have you ever stood to give an important speech and just… blanked? If so, join us for an exciting public speaking workshop, where we will give you the secret weapon to make sure you are never in this situation again: the art of theater! In this seminar, you will be guided through fun and collaborative theater and speaking exercises to help you become confident with improvisation, so that you can improve your argumentation skills!
Workshop 5: The Art of Latin Dance
Directors: Emma Upson & Kalina Sabala Montes
Have you ever wanted to learn the dances that have shaped cultures across Latin America? Join us if you're interested in exploring Latin American dance traditions! Emma and Kalina are excited to introduce delegates to the history of Latin dance while teaching a variety of styles across different musical genres and subgenres, including salsa, merengue, bachata, and cumbia. All levels of dance experience are welcome.
Workshop 6: Leadership Under Pressure: A World Cup Challenge
Directors: Elba Heddesheimer & Franklin Wu
What separates good teams from championship teams? Inspired by the FIFA World Cup, this interactive workshop explores leadership, communication, and collaboration through competitive team challenges. As participants progress through each stage of the tournament, they will experience the importance of strategic decision-making, trust-building, adaptability, and effective delegation - skills that are equally essential in Model United Nations and beyond.
